چکیده

The energy of a graph is defined as the sum of the absolute values of all eigenvalues of the graph. Zhang et al (Discrete Appl. Math., 92(1999), 71-84) characterized the trees with a perfect matching having the minimal and the second minimal energies, which solved a conjecture proposed by Gutman (J. Math. Chem., 1(1987), 123-143). In this letter, for a given positive integer d we characterize the tree with the minimal energy having diameter at least d. As a corollary, we also characterize the tree with the minimal Hosoya index having diameter at least d.

On minimal energies of trees with given diameter

The energy of G, denoted by E(G), is defined as the sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of G. In this paper, the trees with a given diameter having the minimal energy are determined by three specific tree operations; using this method, together with previous work, a conjecture proposed by B. Zhou and F. Li [J. Math. Chem., 39:465–473, 2006] is completely solved.

Comparative Study on the Effect of Water Stress and Rootstock on Photosynthetic Function in Pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) Trees

The aim of this study is to evaluate the  effects of water deficit stress on chlorophyll fluorescence (CF) characteristics of photosystem II (PSII) and pigment contents in two rootstock seedlings (Pistacia atlantica L. and P. khinjuk L.). Three levels of soil water potential (Ψs) was used, including WWD (-0.05 MPa), MWD (-0.7 MPa) and SWD (-1.5 MPa). It was found that water stress increased the...

Chemical Trees Minimizing Energy and Hosoya Index

Abstract. The energy of a molecular graph is a popular parameter that is defined as the sum of the absolute values of a graph’s eigenvalues. It is well known that the energy is related to the matching polynomial and thus also to the Hosoya index via a certain Coulson integral. Trees minimizing the energy under various additional conditions have been determined in the past, e.g., trees with a gi...
